Rangers are embarrassing themselves over Celtic penalty row and can't handle the truth - Hotline

Rangers have so far been met with silence in their bid to hear the VAR audio of Saturday’s Old Firm flashpoint. But the fallout over the decision not to award a penalty against Alistair Johnston for handball was deafening on the Hotline as the row rumbles on into the new year.

Henry Moffat, Stirling, said: “The blubbering and deflection of Rangers and their fans is pathetic. This club has had nothing but favourable decisions from VAR, a fact pointed out by fans of all clubs on this Hotline. Now they are embarrassing themselves over a penalty that wouldn’t even have been taken. You were outclassed and can’t handle the truth.” Helen McLean, Inverness, agreed and suggested: “I have an idea that will silence Rangers and their fans. If referees are being unfair to them then why not have foreign officials for the two Glasgow teams from now on? Watch them run a mile from that one! They have had that much help from officials that they can’t even handle not getting a penalty that wouldn’t have been given anyway because it was offside.”

Vincent McGhee, Greenock, said: “Rangers are grasping at straws because they were again poor against a Celtic side struggling for form.” And Paul Price emailed: “So let me get this right, when Connor Goldson handles the ball on several occasions its never a penalty but when an opposing player does even though the Rangers player was offside it’s a penalty to Rangers? Whats that word again .. karma.”

Gers fan George Wilson, West Sussex, wasn’t for letting go though. He said: “Things even themselves out over a season in which case Rangers will win the league.
