Rangers and SFA ref row hits HOLYROOD as SNP MSP takes aim at Hampden 'culture of secrecy' amid VAR audio furore

The furious row between Rangers and the SFA over their penalty against Celtic has been taken to the Scottish parliament by SNP MSP Jamie Dornan.

The Ibrox club and the SFA have been at odds after Gers weren't given a penalty by handball from Alistair Johnston in the December 30 Old Firm clash. A Rangers delegation met Hampden beaks to listen to the audio from the incident this week after VAR WIllie Collum didn't call Nick Walsh over to review the incident.

Rangers were left furious claiming there was no mention of the offside in the build-up, after an image of Abdallah Sima - who was offside - was shown by Sky Sports cameras in the broadcast. But the SFA have fervently rejected Rangers' version of events, arguing the offside would have been flagged if it were relevant, and called for greater 'responsibility' from them in future statements. Now though Jamie Dornan, MSP for Glasgow Cathcart, has called on the SFA for more transparency.

Mr Dornan has submitted a motion titled 'Calling for SFA Transparency' which asks: "That the Parliament supports recent reported moves by Glasgow Rangers FC to get the Scottish Football Association (SFA) to release the conversations by video assistant referee (VAR) officials during the recent game against Celtic FC.

"That it recognises what it sees as the longstanding culture of secrecy that exists within the ruling hierarchy of Scottish football.

"And urges the SFA to ensure that all VAR decisions, and any other decisions requested by a club involved, are made publicly available on such a request, and believes that, if the SFA and Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) continue with what it considers is their ongoing culture of secrecy, then there is a need to consider an independent
