Queen of the South boss shares fans' frustrations after defeat to Alloa Athletic

Queen of the South boss Marvin Bartley shares the frustration of fans after Queens slumped to their sixth defeat in eight League One matches.

The South lie third bottom, three points ahead of local rivals Annan Athletic, following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat away to Alloa Athletic.

Bartley said: “I understand the frustration of the fans, I get it, we are frustrated as well.

“There has to be accountability, that starts with me because I’m the manager, but we all have to take responsibility. We have had an honest chat in there, because that is eight defeats so far and that is far from acceptable at this stage of the season.”

Queens were the masters of their own downfall once again as an errant Efe Ambrose pass led to former Queens front man Ally Roy adding insult to injury to score the winner after 64 minutes.

Bartley said: “As soon as one goes off script it puts the others under pressure because they have to second guess.

“The real frustration is there was nothing in that game, and we weren’t even close to playing to our potential.

“The players were told before the game exactly what to expect and what we needed to do, and again at half time.

“For large parts of the first half, we were making basic mistakes, basic errors and they were told they needed to eradicate them.

“We do a lot of work on how to deal with situations and it is one of our most experienced players who does something that we said don’t do.

“It seems that doing the basics becomes too easy for some and they try other things and it means we lose games when we shouldn’t.”

Despite the latest defeat Bartley has the belief Queens can turn it around.
