Princess Road in Manchester closed following serious crash - live updates

Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash in south Manchester. Princess Road is currently shut heading out of the city in Withington.

The collision is understood to have happened near to Hough End Leisure centre at around 11.15pm on Saturday night (April 29).

A closure is currently in place between Mauldeth Road West and Cavendish Road.

Photos from the scene show a heavy police presence, as well as a number of fire crews and ambulances.

Just after 11:15pm on Saturday 29 April, three fire engines and a Technical Response Unit were called to attend the scene of a road traffic collision on Whitchurch Road, Manchester, involving two vehicles.

Crews arrived quickly and firefighters rescued two people from the vehicles before transferring them into the care of colleagues from North West Ambulance Service.

Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour and a half.
