Predicting the results of Man City's crucial April fixtures against Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and others

If Manchester City are to stand any chance of winning the treble for the first time in their history, then they are going to have to make it through a daunting April schedule relatively unscathed.

With a minimum of eight games (a potential Champions League semi-final first leg would be the ninth) crammed into the next four weeks - some of them critical ones at that - the next month will likely dictate City's success in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

That might be an exciting prospect for Pep Guardiola and his players, but for supporters... maybe less so. We're a largely pessimistic bunch, us Blues, but if there's any team that can get through a run of tough games then it's this one. Against my better judgment that I might end up jinxing them, here's how I think City will get on.

April 2nd, Burnley (A)

Pep Guardiola once described facing Burnley at Turf Moor as like "going to the dentist," but City do have an excellent record against Sean Dyche's side. They've won their last nine meetings with the Clarets, last dropping points against them in 2018 with a 1-1 draw.

Don't expect Guardiola to field a weakened team though; he'll want to get everyone back into their rhythm after the international break and before the heavy hitters arrive.

Prediction: 2-0 City win

April 5th: Atletico Madrid (H)

The first of the biggies. Atletico are going to come to the Etihad and try to frustrate City with a compact, low-block defence. There's no longer the same incentive for them to snatch an away goal, but their ability on the counter-attack will worry Pep.
