Police seal off busy Cardiff bridge
A man has been rescued from the River Taff after reports someone had fallen from a bridge. The Penarth Road bridge was closed for more than an hour as emergency services worked at the scene.
Two rescue helicopters were circling a large area of Grangetown., and there are four boats in the river. The alarm was raised at around 10.40am and a man was rescued from the river just after 11.30am.
A local resident said: "The helicopters were right above my head. They were moving very slowly across the river. There were fire engines, police vehicles and large emergency service presence. The whole bridge was covered with emergency service crews."
HM Coastguard said they were called at 10.40am to an incident in the River Taff. A rescue Helicopter from St Athan was sent to the scene, along with the RNLI Penarth lifeboat, and Coastguard Rescue Teams (CRTs) from Penarth and Barry Island.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Wales Ambulance Service, and a police helicopter were also involved.
