Police investigate street fight involving a machete in Oldham

Police are investigating reports of a street fight outside an Oldham job centre involving a machete. Detectives have appealed to the public for information although there are no reports of any injuries.

The clash happened outside a Jobcentre Plus in Union Street in the town centre on Tuesday night.

Police received reports of a 'disturbance' at around 10.30pm. A source confirmed a machete was involved. The group had left by the time officers arrived at the scene.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 10.30 on Tuesday 28 June 2022, we were made aware of a disturbance involving a group on Union Street, Oldham.

"Officers attended but the group dispersed prior to their arrival. No injuries have been reported. Enquiries are ongoing."

A spokesperson for the Department of Work and Pensions declined to comment on the incident, which happened outside its Jobcentre Plus on Union Street.
