LIVE: Forensic teams on street following 'police incident' as officers carry out door to door enquiries

Forensic teams are searching a street in Wigan following a 'police incident'. Detectives have also been seen carrying door-to-door enquiries on Bolton Old Road in Atherton.

Neighbours have reported police and paramedics being called to the area around 10pm on Wednesday. The police helicopter was also seen hovering above the area.

It's thought the road may also have been cordoned off for a time last night. The nature of the incident is unknown at this stage.

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for a comment.
