Police divers find gun in canal after search
Officers have retrieved a gun from the canal water in Leigh during a search. North West Police Underwater Search and Marine Unit were diving in Bridgewater canal yesterday when they came across the weapon.
It is not confirmed why the diving team was in the area or if the gun is connected to any particular case. The weapon was pictured by the officers and appears to be old and water damaged.
The diving team said items like this can be found by anglers and they are glad this weapon has not found its way into ‘the wrong hands’.
