Police cordon in place after gunman cyclist opens fire at house in shooting

A police cordon is in place in south Manchester this morning following a suspected shooting in the early hours.

Police were called to Claremont Road shortly before 2am on Friday (September 13) to repirts of a 'suspected firearms discharge'. Detectives believe someone on a pedal bike shot at a property on the street near the junction of Yew Tree Road.

No injuries have been reported, but a scene remains in place as police carry out investigations into the incident. Officers have appealed to anyone who may have more information to get in touch.

In a statement, GMP said: "Shortly before 2am this morning (Friday 13 September) we were called to reports of a suspected firearms discharge on Claremont Road, Manchester.

"It's believed that someone on a pedal bike shot at a property on Claremont Road, close to the junction of Yew Tree Road. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

"A scene remains in place this morning whilst officers conduct further enquiries and an investigation is underway.

"Detectives are appealing to the public for information. If you know more about this incident, or were perhaps in the area at the time and saw something suspicious, we urge you to come forward. Police are also particularly keen to speak to anyone who has doorbell, dashcam, or CCTV footage from the surrounding areas.
