'Played an important role' - Manchester United senior departure confirmed by Dan Ashworth and Sir Dave Brailsford
Andy O'Boyle will leave his role as deputy football director at Manchester United next week after Dan Ashworth and Sir Dave Brailsford confirmed his departure.
O'Boyle is leaving United after just over two years in his role and although he played a key part in the transition to a new football structure under Ineos, his responsibilities are now overlapping with sporting director Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox.
One of his final acts at United was to play a major part in drawing up plans for the £50m redevelopment at Carrington, with work now underway to transform the club's training ground and deliver improved facilities in time for the 2025/26 season.
He will leave the club at the end of next week (Friday, September 13) and his departure was officially confirmed to staff in an email sent by Ashworth and Brailsford on Wednesday, in which they praised the "significant contribution" O'Boyle had made to the football department.

In the email, seen by the Manchester Evening News, Ashworth and Brailsford said: "In particular, we would like to thank Andy for the help and support he has provided to both of us and the Ineos team during the first few months of our involvement with the club and during our first transfer window.
"He has also played an important role in the redevelopment of Carrington, and his contribution has been key in planning the world-class training facilities we will have here next season."
O'Boyle arrived at United in May 2022, leaving a position as the Premier League's head of elite performance to take up the role as John Murtough's
