Manchester United plot '£30m' transfer swoop to address Erik ten Hag's problem area

The summer transfer window may have just closed but Manchester United already have one eye on the January transfer window opening.

According to the Sun, the Red Devils are plotting a £30million move for Fulham full-back Antonee Robinson, but they'll have to raise funds over the course of the next four months. United are said to be looking for a long-term replacement for England international Luke Shaw, whose Old Trafford tenure has been blighted by injuries.

Erik ten Hag's side were linked with a move for the United States international in the recent window, while Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell was also mooted with a move to Manchester. In the end, neither would make to move to the north west.

However, United remain keen on bolstering their options at left-back and 27-year-old Robinson is said to be high on their transfer wishlist.

The Cottagers don't want to lose Robinson and have slapped a £30m asking price on his head, but the report claims they won't stand in his way if an offer meets their valuation.

The United States international came through the youth set-up at Everton but failed to break into the first-team at Goodison Park. Loan spells with Bolton and Wigan would follow before making his move to the Latics a permanent one in 2019.

Robinson would spend just one full season with Wigan, before moving to Craven cottage in a deal worth £2million. He's gone on to establish himself as a Premier League regular and reportedly caught the eye of Manchester City and AC Milan in recent years.
