Philippe Clement lifts Rangers curtain as Scott Wright admits Parkhead passion play is the norm

From his spot on the sidelines a fired-up Philippe Clement kicked every ball, contested every challenge and generally spent his first Old Firm experience looking like he’d much rather be out there in the midst of the action himself.

It didn’t always go down well with referee Nick Walsh, who dished out a booking to the Gers gaffer when one of his demonstrative protests crossed a line. But Scott Wright reckons it was a show of passion Rangers are going to have to match if they are to reach where their Belgian boss wants to take them.

Saturday’s narrow 2-1 Parkhead loss has dimmed some of the excitement building around the resurgent Ibrox outfit. But Wright insists there’s no way it will dampen his boss’ determination to recast this Light Blues line-up in his own image. Gers have one more bit of business to take care of against Kilmarnock tomorrow night before they jet off to Spain for their winter getaway.

But once they reach their sun-kissed La Manga resort, that is where Wright expects to see Clement’s real fervour for this Ibrox project come out. He said: “Yeah [the manager showed his fiery side], this game brings that out in everyone.

"That is what you want to see. He's a very passionate manager.

"You will see the cool side of him, but we see the passion behind the curtain. He is fantastic to work for and we are all looking forward to the future.

"Do we like to see that passion on the sidelines? Yeah, absolutely. It's his team out there and he is at the forefront of that.

"He can't be on the pitch but he will do as much as he can to help us out there. We are definitely growing as a team under him.

"The manager wants the fans to have a team to be proud of. It's a case of trying to build on what we have been building.
