Philippe Clement has Rangers quip ready after reaching Premiership summit as Celtic told what REALLY matters

Focussed Philippe Clement has played down reaching the top of the Scottish Premiership table with Rangers once again.

And he insists that the league position going into the crucial showdown with Celtic next week doesn't matter - with Brendan Rodgers' side travelling across the city for the blockbuster derby day clash. The Light Blues moved two points clear at the top with a 3-1 win over Hibs with their title rivals facing struggling Livingston on Sunday.

But the Belgian insists he is unfazed by the league table despite being in the final run-in - insisting he is happier with the performance level following the international break. Asked how it feels to be at the Premiership summit once again on BBC Sportsound, the boss quickly responded: "Is it? It's nothing to do with that. It is a good feeling to play again after a couple of weeks without games and to win again. It is all about that, and to have a very convincing performance with a lot of good football, good goals and a tremendous atmosphere in the stadium."

The Rangers boss was then quizzed on how important it is to go into the clash with the Hoops with a win and top of the table. Clement went on: "It doesn't matter what our position is.

"Ok, it is the Old Firm and it's an important game for the title but it's not the decisive game. It is not the last game.

"So, we are going to be focussed like we have been doing all of these months and focus on the performances. Out of the performances, results come. It's about that.

"It is going to be a great atmosphere and today the atmosphere was tremendous. The fans were excited, they were positive and there were pushing the team. I expect that even more next week."
