Phil Foden makes honest Liverpool claim ahead of Man City clash at Anfield

Phil Foden has admitted that this Sunday's game against Liverpool is 'massive' and is hopeful Manchester City will 'be ready' for the clash.

Pep Guardiola's side head into this weekend's clash at Anfield on the back of a derby win over Manchester United at the Etihad. Foden was the star man for City, scoring twice as his side came from one goal down to claim a 3-1 victory.

Liverpool are the next team the reigning champions must attempt to find a way past, though history suggests this won't be a straightforward task. City have won just two of their previous 32 matches at Anfield, and Foden is keen to see that record change.

"It's massive," he told Premier League Productions. "It's a stadium we never seem to win a lot at, so it's going to be a challenge. It's the game you want to play in as players, the biggest occasions. Hopefully, we will be ready for it."

Reflecting on the win over United, Guardiola said: “It is about us. We can’t control what Liverpool or Arsenal, Aston Villa or other contenders do, it is about us. We do what we have to do to win today, next Wednesday and Sunday.

"This team is legendary. Will we do it? I don’t know. We have today more points at this stage than last season. The difference is Liverpool have I don’t know how many more points than this stage last season.

"When the opponent is behaving like this, what can I say, congratulations so far. We will continue to try game by game."
