Pep Guardiola press conference LIVE Man City team news ahead of Newcastle United fixture

Pep Guardiola will address the media on Friday afternoon ahead of Manchester City's third Premier League match of the season against Newcastle United.

City have had a great start to their title defence having picked up successive comfortable victories over West Ham United and Bournemouth in their opening two matches of the campaign.

Erling Haaland has already made a big impact but his lack of involvement in last week's outing did raise concerns in some corners, which Guardiola may well be asked about.

The Blues have added left-back Sergio Gomez to their squad this week. His arrival and the future of Bernardo Silva could be some more talking points.

Guardiola may also offer a team news update, with Kalvin Phillips and Cole Palmer missing the Bournemouth win with knocks.

We'll bring you every word Pep Guardiola has to say this afternoon LIVE right here.

Manchester City will fly to Spain from Newcastle on Sunday before taking on Barcelona in a mid-season friendly.

Pep Guardiola will return to his boyhood club for a charity game on Wednesday in support of former Barcelona goalkeeper and coach Juan Carlos Unzue, who was diagnosed with the incurable ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) two years ago. The match was meant to take place last year but was delayed because of the ongoing pandemic, and all proceeds from the match will go towards ALS research.

City will use the week for some warm-weather training in their last full week between Premier League fixtures before the matches start to come every three days as the Premier League and Champions League try and cram their schedules in around the winter World Cup. While Manchester is set for rain most days and temperatures of 20C next week, Girona will be sunny and above 30C
