Man City transfer news LIVE deadline day updates as window shuts

It's transfer deadline day and it looks like it could be a relatively busy one for Manchester City.

City usually get all their business done nice and early and that has largely been the case again this year with the signings of Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Julian Alvarez, Stefan Ortega and Sergio Gomez all done with plenty of time to spare.

However, the Blues are closing in on adding a late addition to their squad in the shape of Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji to add some much-needed depth amid injuries to Aymeric Laporte, Nathan Ake and Luke Mbete.

Though Bernardo Silva will almost certainly remain at the Etihad despite his desire to leave, there may be some other departures. Several of the club's promising youngsters are being linked with permanent switches on deadline day and they may get their moves before the window closes at 11pm.

Pep Guardiola insists Bernardo Silva will definitely stay at Manchester City this week, despite continued interest from Barcelona, as he called the Portuguese 'irreplaceable' to his squad.

Speaking after Bernardo scored the first goal in City's brilliant second-half comeback vs Crystal Palace on Saturday, before playing a key role in the equalising goal finished off by Erling Haaland, Guardiola was full of praise for the midfielder who he spoke about unprompted.

Asked about Julian Alvarez's contribution off the bench, Guardiola quickly sang the praises of Bernardo, before reiterating his pre-match comments that the no.20 will definitely remain at City beyond Thursday's transfer window deadline - even if Barcelona haven't given up hope of signing him.
