Pep Guardiola gives injury update on three Man City players ahead of Crystal Palace match

Pep Guardiola expects Manchester City to be without Jack Grealish as well as Nathan Ake for the Crystal Palace game.

Grealish missed the match against Newcastle last week with a knock he picked up against Bournemouth and while he was able to take part in the training camp in Spain he worked alone on Monday and Tuesday before taking no part in the match against Barcelona on Wednesday. City trained on Friday ahead of Palace, but Guardiola was not confident that the former Villa man will be able to feature at the weekend.

Ake is definitely out with the groin injury he picked up against Newcastle. The player's injury is not thought to be serious enough for City to buy another centre-back but he will not be ready to play either. Guardiola also expects Aymeric Laporte to be out for at least another month before he is able to return to the team, following the surgery he had this summer.

"Nathan is coming back soon, yesterday he started running and feels good," said Guardiola. "At the end of September or early October Ayme (Laporte) will be back too. I am happy with that. Maybe we will wake up in the morning and think we should buy a central defender, but we’re not thinking about that.

"Jack trained alone, not with the team. He feels better but my feeling now is I don't think he will be ready for tomorrow."

Kalvin Phillips is also a doubt after coming off injured in the Barcelona friendly with a shoulder injury.
