People are leaving fake £70 parking tickets on cars in town centre in Wales

People in a town in souh Wales are finding fake £70 parking tickets on their cars. Bridgend council thinks someone might be trying to stop drivers from parking near their house by leaving the realistic-looking tickets.

The notices were found on cars parked on Green Street, close to the town centre. And the problem has become so big that the council is now looking into where these notices came from, WalesOnline reports.

At first, these notices look official and that they have been issued by the local council. However, on closer inspection, there are a number of spelling mistakes.

The council said: "Often fake notices contain spelling mistakes and may not include information such as the specific charge for example," They added: "Whether the fake ticket has been created to prevent people from using a particular parking space or used as a practical joke it could still be seen as attempted fraud and could have very serious consequences." If anyone gets a notice they think might be fake, the council wants them to get in touch.

The fake notice reads: "The warning serves as an official notice regarding the break of parking regulations. Please take immediate action to familiarize yourself with and adhere to the parking regulations within our community."

The notice then says that quick action is needed, asking the driver to "refrain from parking in resident-only areas without the appropriate authorization [sic]". It also warns: "Failure to comply with parking regulations may result in fines up to £70 or further enforcement action."
