Trafford Park incident LIVE: Major incident declared by Greater Manchester Police amid chemical leak as people are warned to close their doors and windows - latest updates

Emergency services are responding to reports of a chemical gas leak in Trafford Park this morning.

A large number of ambulance, fire and police vehicles are on the scene on Tenax Road with a huge 300m cordon in place and a stretch of the road closed off. The Manchester Evening News understands the suspected chemical leak is in the Lanxess building, with the chemical believed to be phosphorus oxychloride.

A major incident has been declared by both Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and by the North West Ambulance Service, a spokesperson for GMP confirmed. No injuries have been reported.

Residents who live nearby have told to keep their windows and doors closed. Emergency services are working to 'contain the incident'.

In an update, a NWAS spokesperson said:

"At 09.30 this morning, following reports of a chemical leak at an industrial site on Tenax Road, Trafford Park, Manchester, North West Ambulance Service enacted its major incident protocol and sent multiple resources to the scene. This includes its Hazardous Area Response Team and Operational Commanders.
