Paulo Bernardo to Celtic transfer sees Jury take a dim view as £6m man served up charge over form
CRAIG SWAN: Bernardo has shown flashes. However, not enough to splash £6 million. That’s too expensive.
ANDY NEWPORT: The Hoops faithful were hoping for another Jota but the departed winger’s Portuguese compatriot has only delivered in flashes. His Old Firm strike was a glimpse of his capabilities but they’ve been too few and far between, hence why he’s been in and out of Brendan Rodgers’ side all season. I’d look to spend the cash elsewhere.
FRASER WILSON: Not for me. There’s not been enough evidence to suggest he’s a £6m player. That type of money requires an impact week in, week out. If they were to lose Matt O’Reilly then Bernardo isn’t of the same quality.
CRAIG: The best man for the job should get it. Whether he’s from Maryhill or the Moon.
ANDY: We should be looking for the best person for the job - it doesn’t matter if they come from Motherwell, Munich or Mars.
FRASER: It doesn’t matter where they come from, they’re on a hiding to nothing. VAR is a shambles and the handball and offside rules are a nightmare. That’s what needs sorted more than anything else.
CRAIG: Dundee United are top billing again and the Tannadice club have the squad to get the job done.
ANDY: You’d think Dundee United should prove too strong in the end given the quality of their squad and the cash they’ve spent on it but Jim Goodwin’s men have repeatedly offered Rovers chances to hang on.
If the Tannadice team doesn’t win the league, they’ll only have themselves to blame.
FRASER: Watching Dundee United capitulate to Dunfermline last week was an eye opener. They have the better squad but their form is all over the place. Next weekend is huge at home to Raith and whoever wins that will have the momentum. I’m fancying Raith.
