Ugurcan Çakır to Celtic transfer stunner emerges as deal for £7.5m keeper sees Rodgers and Nicholson namechecked

Celtic have reportedly moved for Ugurcan Cakir to become Joe Hart's potential successor, according to a report.

Brendan Rodgers is in the market to replace his vastly experienced No1 this summer after his decision to bring his career to an end by hanging up his gloves. A number of names have been linked with the role of taking over from the England cap and now it has emerged from Turkey that Trabzonspor's Cakir could be that man with the Hoops seeking permission for talks with his management team and lawyer and a Zoom call between the player and Rodgers.

The same report states the Scottish champions will look to seal a transfer with a £7.5million offer with all the key questions and details part of an e-mail signed by Michael Nicholson. Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist are the back-up options on the books at Parkhead but neither have ever been able to dislodge Hart. The latter was linked with a January exit and could well leave in the summer as he looks for first-team action after failing to nail down a spot since his move to Glasgow's east end from Dundee United.
