Tom Glover on Celtic transfer radar as Rangers also 'chasing' in demand Middlesbrough keeper

Celtic and Rangers are among a number of clubs plotting a summer swoop for Middlesbrough goalkeeper Tom Glover - according to a report.

Glover, 26, started his professional career with Tottenham in the Premier League, but enjoyed his breakthrough in a four year spell between 2019 and 2023 back in his native Australia with Melbourne City., where he helped the club win three consecutive A-League Premiership titles. That form won him a move back to England with the Boro last summer, with Glover going onto make 20 appearances in all competitions, including an inspired display in a narrow 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in the FA Cup in January.

The stopper is yet to make his senior debut for the Socceroos, but appeared for the nation's U23 side at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020, before winning his first call-up to Graham Arnold's full squad back in September. And according to Aussie outlet FTBL, both sides of the Old Firm have identified the New South Wales-born stopper as a potential target to strengthen their goalkeeping department next season.

Brendan Rodgers' Celtic will certainly be in the market for a new number one in the summer, with veteran stopper Joe Hart set to hang up his gloves at the end of the summer. Rangers keeper Jack Butland has been in superb form since his arrival at Ibrox last summer with 23 clean sheets in 49 matches, but boss Philippe Clement may look to provide added competition to the Englishman when the summer window opens.
