Paul Scholes' two-word response after Roy Keane snubbed him from dream Manchester United XI

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes insists he "wasn't bothered" by Roy Keane leaving him out of his dream XI made up of his former teammates.

Keane spent 12 years at United between 1993 and 2005, registering 480 appearances during some of the club's most successful years and playing with some of their greatest ever players. During a 2013 ITV documentary that was centred around his rivalry with Patrick Vieira, the Irishman left both Scholes and Ryan Giggs out of his all-time teammates line-up - something Vieira disagreed with.

"Scholes, no doubt about it, I think Scholes, for me, was the best English player and one of the best United players that I played against," Vieira explained. "He can do everything."

RATINGS: Casemiro and Varane good in Bournemouth win

Keane, however, remained stubborn in his decision and hit back with his reasoning: "Having a great career doesn't mean you are a great player - there's a big difference.

"I'm not saying Giggsy wasn't [great], but do I leave out Ronaldo, one of the world's great players? Do I leave Becks out? You don't win titles by having choirboys in your dressing room."

Keane's decision did come as a shock to many United fans, with himself and Scholes having played together during some of the club's greatest seasons. However, when asked about it during an episode of the official Manchester United podcast in 2020, Scholes was not phased.

"When people name teams, it's a matter of opinion," Scholes claimed. "Me and [David] Maysy could sit here all day and pick 10 different teams, the amount of brilliant players that played here, so I wasn't bothered by it. I'm still not bothered by it."
