Erik ten Hag 'steps up £40m Rasmus Hojlund pursuit' and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Manchester United and Erik ten Hag are said to have stepped up their efforts to bring in Rasmus Hojlund this summer.

That's according to the Mirror, who claim the Reds are ready to move on following Spurs' stubborn stance regarding the club's number one target Harry Kane. MEN Sport understand Kane is still the preferred option.

Hojlund burst onto the scene this season and is attracting attention from Europe's biggest clubs including United. The 20-year-old has scored 16 goals and also laid on a further seven assists in all competitions for Atalanta this season.

The Denmark international would link up with fellow international teammate Christian Eriksen should he opt to make the summer switch, with the Reds hierarchy keen on bringing in a striker this summer.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mail report that United would prioritise a deal for Mason Mount over Declan Rice if they were given the option of the two.

Chelsea are said to be continuing to hold out for a fee of around £80milliion for their midfielder, whilst the Reds see a figure of between £50m and £60m as being more appropriate.

Rice is said to be allowed to leave the London Stadium this summer, with his desire to play Champions League football a big incentive. Arsenal and United are both interested in the England international, with the Hammers said to be holding out for a fee of around £100m for their captain.
