Manchester United transfer news LIVE Mount and De Gea latest plus Man Utd vs Man City reaction

Manchester United slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

United didn't do themselves any favours as they conceded after just 12 seconds when a loose clearance dropped perfectly for Ilkay Gundogan to stunningly volley home.

The early shock threatened to capsise Erik ten Hag's side completely but they managed to hold the City onslaught at bay before clawing themselves back into the match by stifling their opponents.

A Jack Grealish handball in the box gave them the lifeline and Bruno Fernandes slotted home from the penalty spot under immense pressure.

The match was finely poised with both teams having chances but the Blues got the winning strike when Gundogan again volleyed home from the edge of the box, though this time he was helped by poor defending and goalkeeping.

United's season has now come to an end and attention will turn to the transfer market.

Two goals from Ilkay Gundogan were enough to keep City's treble hopes alive ahead of next weekend's Champions League final against Inter Milan. Gundogan fired City in front after just 12 seconds - scoring the fastest goal in FA Cup final history - before Bruno Fernandes brought United level from the penalty spot with 33 minutes gone.

Here's what he said.
