'Not good enough' - Roy Keane's brutal assessment of Manchester United squad after FA Cup loss

Manchester United legend Roy Keane feels his old club have to spend the necessary money in order to strengthen the squad at Old Trafford.

United secured a third placed finish in the Premier League, with Erik ten Hag also winning the Carabao Cup in his first season as manager. A double domestic cup success was not to be however, with Man City defeating United 2-1 in Saturday's FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

Ilkay Gundogan scored after 15 seconds and then fired City back ahead in the second half - with Bruno Fernandes having levelled from the penalty spot on 33 minutes. Gundogan's second strike on the day proved to be the winner, as City took a massive step towards clinching the treble.

David De Gea did not cover himself in glory for Gundogan's second-half strike and United were without the injured Anthony Martial on the day. The defeat left Keane questioning the strength of depth at Ten Hag's disposal and highlighting the need for United to significantly boost the Dutchman's options this summer.

"We saw it again today and we’ve been talking about it over the last few years," said Keane. "Obviously Marcus has come in, but his strength is coming in off the left. We’ve seen a few lads coming off the bench; at United they’re not good enough.

"Probably decent lads, but for Man United not good enough. That’s why Man United are losing these tight games and that’s why they’ll be chasing Man City for the next few years. Honestly, go on, spend the money and get the players that Man United deserve."
