Patson Daka shows more than goals in Leicester City win as Youri Tielemans brushes aside transfer talk

Youri Tielemans is one of the players to be most heavily linked with a move away from the club this season, but the midfielder is showing no sign that his mind is on anything other than Leicester City. Brendan Rodgers revealed last weekend that he was set to have a chat with the midfielder over his future, and it can be assumed that the chat went well, with Tielemans wearing the captain’s armband for the first half of the 4-0 win over Hull City on Wednesday and then impressing again at Derby.

While there were whispers surrounding Tielemans being included in the squad to play Derby - the perceived weaker group compared to that which played, and beat, Preston - he was again given the captain’s armband.

The squad for Derby did include the likes of Wilfred Ndidi and Timothy Castagne, both likely to be important players in the new campaign, which gets underway in just two weeks’ time. It’s a big show of faith that Tielemans was selected to be the leader on the pitch, despite all the talk surrounding his future.

The Belgian showed his leadership qualities throughout the game. With pre-season ensuring that Pride Park was only half full, Tielemans’ instructions to his teammates could occasionally be heard. The midfielder appeared to be leading the press when Derby had the ball in defence, encouraging his teammates forward.
