Brendan Rodgers makes Youri Tielemans comment as Leicester City transfer confirmed

Good morning, City fans! Here are your latest Leicester City headlines ahead of today's game against Arsenal.

Leicester City have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Alex Smithies.

The 32 year-old has signed a two-year deal at the King Power Stadium and arrives on a free transfer having left Cardiff City over the summer. He joins Leicester after a short spell on trial with Premier League rivals AFC Bournemouth.

Smithies, who has also played for Huddersfield Town and Queens Park Rangers, arrives at Leicester as a third-choice goalkeeper behind Danny Ward and Daniel Iversen. He has never played in the Premier League but has made over 460 senior career appearances - most of them in the Championship.

New Leicester City goalkeeper Alex Smithies has vowed to push Danny Ward and Daniel Iversen "as far as I can" in his new role.

The 32-year-old has joined City on a two-year deal, becoming the club's first senior signing of the summer, and will be Brendan Rodgers' third choice behind both Ward and Iversen.

Smithies has acknowledged his role going forward, while vowing to "push the lads as far as I can" in his new role. It is not something Smithies is used to, having spent most of his career as a first-choice option in the Championship with Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town.

There is a “big possibility” that Boubakary Soumare will leave Leicester City soon with the midfielder a target for Monaco.

Soumare only arrived at the King Power Stadium a year ago, in a £17 million move from Lille, but has struggled to establish himself as a trusted member of the squad and his game-time dwindled in the second half of last season. Now, he is on course to exit the club.
