Organisers assure athletes of safety as NYG Games Village opens

The Games Village for the Eighth National Youth Games, tagged Asaba 2024, will open today ahead of the festival’s opening ceremony on Wednesday.The National Youth Games will hold from September 9 to 19 at the the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba and other centres across the Delta State capital, but the opening ceremony will hold at the stadium.
The Secretary of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Festus Ohwojero, said yesterday that all the venues to host the athletes will start operating today.
Ohwojero, who is the Director General of Delta Sports Commission, stated that the over 5,000 athletes competing at the Games will be camped in different venues including the Dennis Osadebe University, the sports commission’s hostel, Anglican Girls Grammar School (AGGS) and Infant Jesus Academy.
