For a majority of athletes and officials of Team Delta, the ongoing maiden Niger Delta Sports Festival in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, is an opportunity to claim their rightful position as the ‘Commander-in-chief’ in the region as far as sporting event is concerned.
• Oborevwori pledges to transform sports in Delta State Team Delta yesterday defeated Imo State 2-1 in the men’s football event to set the stage for qualification to the quarterfinals of the event. This came after they defeated Cross River 44-39 in the opening game of the women’s basketball, yesterday.

The assistant coach of the Delta State Judo Association and Head of Ekus Judo Club, Sensei Osahon Eke, has declared that the South-South zone will continue to dominate the Nigerian judo scene, pointing at the zone’s consistency in the development of the sport.
El-Kanemi Warriors, who defeated Abia Warriors 2-0 in the final game of the 2024 President Federation Cup, will face another team from Abia State, Enyimba, in a round-of-32 battle for the trophy this year.
