FASU Games: LASU football team beats FUOYE 2-1

Université Général Lansana Conté (UGLC) Sonfonia Conakry, Guinea, on Monday defeated host, University of Lagos (UNILAG), 67-66 in  Day 2  match of the ongoing 11th All African University Games( FASU Games) in the basketball event.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ongoing 11th FASU Games, tagged Lagos 2024, is co-hosted by UNILAG and Lagos State University(LASU) Ojo.

UNILAG was leading in the first quarter of the game before  Team UGLC rallied back in the second quarter, winning the last quarter just by a point to finish 67-66.

Team UNILAG blamed the loss on a bad defensive approach by the team.

Daramola Micheal a Team UNILAG forward told NAN that the team would work on their defense,  going forward.

“We didn’t play good defense and didn’t manage our offense well and that’s what failed us and how we lost today’s game.

“Hopefully, we will come back tomorrow and play a better game to make all the difference.

“The coach specifically wanted us to play defense, but that was the main problem we had, we played really bad on defense and our offense was bad.

“Also our free throws were even worse. I really want us to talk about that, we need to work on that.

Micheal  assured that the team would do better in the next match.

“We have to do better tomorrow and try to take the game tomorrow, we will just expect the best.

UGLC forward and “Man of the Match” Keita Karfalla told NAN that the offensive strategy of the team worked for them.

“Our strategy was  to be on the offensive  and that was the reason we  pressed from inside with little outside shots.
