"One they will go for" - Journalist drops big Leeds claim on £26m star who looks up to Kante

Leeds could make a move for RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Jesse Marsch is in the market for a midfielder with Kalvin Phillips on the verge of signing for Manchester City, and the USA international has been identified as a potential replacement.

According to the Daily Mail, the Elland Road outfit are ‘monitoring developments’ after the German outfit said that he could seek for pastures new, while Phillips has agreed a £42m deal with the Premier League champions, who are hoping to bolster their own midfield department.

Adams has made 104 appearances for the Bundesliga side across the last four seasons, but he could now link up with Marsch, who once described him as a ‘special talent‘, following their brief time spent together when the 48-year-old was in charge of Leipzig.

The £26m-rated midfielder, who said he emulates his game off Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, is also a fellow American and has been capped 19 times for his country, meaning he’s already a teammate of Brenden Aaronson, who made the switch to Yorkshire from RB Salzburg early this summer.

And Taylor reckons that his experience of playing for a Red Bull side would make him a good fit playing under Marsch.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think the way the Red Bulls clubs play in terms of their pressing, it’s very similar to Jesse Marsch, obviously he coached both of them clubs, so that’s why the players are of interest, it’s about the pressing game and I do think Adams is one they will go for.”

Adams might have featured in 24 Bundesliga games, part of 36 appearances across all competitions, but it proved a very stop-start campaign for the 23-year-old.
