'One of those' - Alan Shearer disagrees with Chris Sutton with Manchester United vs Liverpool prediction

Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton disagree with each other in their predictions for Manchester United's clash against Liverpool.

United host their bitter rivals at Old Trafford this afternoon in the Premier League looking to return to winning ways. Erik ten Hag's side lost 2-1 to Brighton last weekend thanks to a late goal from Joao Pedro in stoppage time.

Ten Hag and Co. will be hoping to return to Old Trafford with another three points following on from their opening day win over Fulham. Liverpool, meanwhile, have won their first two matches of the season against Ipswich Town and Brentford.

Sutton has predicted that United will fall to a defeat at the hands of Liverpool. The former Premier League striker believes United will lose 2-1 to their bitter rivals.

"Manchester United got the better of Liverpool on a couple of occasions last year. They won in the FA Cup and you're sort of scratching your head about how they won that particular one," Sutton told BBC Sport.

"Liverpool under Arne Slot are not so sort of heavy metal. Whatever I predict about Manchester United I get them wrong, I'm just resigned to the fact I cannot predict a Manchester United result.

"I'm going to say Liverpool to beat them."

Shearer disagrees with Sutton's prediction, believing United will be able to claim a point against Liverpool. Shearer has explained how he believes Ten Hag's side are capable of giving their best performances against the teams at the top of the table.
