Manuel Ugarte shows true colours with classy message after Manchester United debut

Manuel Ugarte marked his Manchester United debut with three points - followed by a classy message.

The now-former PSG man signed for the Old Trafford giants on deadline day. He cost an initial £42.3million. Ugarte, 23, put pen to paper too late to play against Liverpool before September's international break. However, the less said about that showdown the better.

On a more positive note, United returned to domestic action with a 3-0 victory against Southampton on Saturday lunchtime. Matthijs de Ligt and Marcus Rashford put United in command with two goals in six first-half minutes, as Alejandro Garnacho then added some last-gasp gloss to the scoreline at St Mary's.

It was a much-needed and morale-boosting win for Erik ten Hag's side. United have now picked up six points from four matches in the Premier League this season and play Crystal Palace next up in that competition.

Ugarte, who was introduced for the final 17 minutes on Saturday lunchtime, could make his full debut then. He was summoned for Christian Eriksen against Southampton as Ten Hag made a surprise - but justified - decision.

Eriksen partnered Kobbie Mainoo and No.10 Bruno Fernandes in midfield, as United went without a natural holding player. However, it should only be a matter of time before Ugarte makes his way into their starting XI.

For now, though, the Uruguay international was pleased enough to just be involved. The 23-year-old took to social media platform Instagram after the final whistle on the south coast and shared a message with his followers.
