BREAKING: GMP release statement with street cordoned off and officers on scene - latest updates

A quiet street in Rochdale has been taped off by police after armed men were seen making threats with weapons.

A stretch of Harland Way, in the Norden area, is currently cordoned off. Officers are stationed at the scene.

Residents have reportedly been told to stay in their homes, with people also turned away from the cordon.

A GMP spokesman said: "At around 10pm last night (Thursday 18 May 2022), GMP received several calls about an incident on Harland Way, Rochdale.

"Officers attended and it was established through initial enquiries that three men arrived in a white Volkswagen Passat and were brandishing suspected weapons.

"The men confronted a man in his 30s and threatened him before damaging his vehicle. The three men then left in the Volkswagen Passat in the direction of Redfearn Wood.

"No injuries were sustained and no arrests have been made as of yet."
