Omar Berrada's 'crucial' message will excite Manchester United fans

It may not be on the same level as Carlos Tevez moving across the city, but Omar Berrada's imminent arrival at Manchester United certainly holds the shock factor.

Berrada has been a mainstay at Manchester City since 2015, working his way up from commercial director to chief operating officer (COO) before finding a permanent home as head of football operations in 2020. When it comes to judging his success, it is hard to argue against his resume.

The 46-year-old has overseen City's dominance not just in domestic football but across Europe and the world. United have looked on enviously as the Blues became the most desirable club in the country.

So it is something of a surprise to see Berrada make the leap to Old Trafford. Sir Jim Ratcliffe's arrival has not been confirmed a month and already the INEOS founder is flexing his pulling power.

Berrada will take on the role of chief executive officer (CEO) at United, replacing the departed Richard Arnold who was praised for his commercial successes rather than his football nous. The CV of Berrada suggests he will be more focused on what happens on the pitch rather than off it.

Just looking down his Twitter profile, you gain an understanding of the plans he will seek to implement at the Theatre of Dreams. In July 2022, Berrada quote tweeted a business post from Simon Sinek which read: "Players with an infinite mindset want to leave their organisations in better shape than they found them." To which the incoming United man replied: "An infinite mindset is crucial to success in sports too."
