Oasis fan who had hotel booking cancelled as Manchester prices skyrocketed is offered £250 alternative room in a youth hostel

An Oasis fan who had his hotel booking cancelled as prices across Manchester skyrocketed has been offered an alternative room - in a youth hostel at £250 for the night.

Josh Finney, whose £90 booking at the Maldron city centre on July 11 was cancelled due to a 'technical error', thought he had nabbed a bargain after racing to a booking site on the morning that Oasis announced their reunion tour.

As room prices surged across the city for the same dates the band are due to perform at Heaton Park, with a windowless room at Sacha's reaching almost £500 for a night on July 11, Josh then received a notification saying his reservation could not be upheld.

On Tuesday (August 27), Noel and Liam Gallagher announced they would be reuniting and are planning to embark on a huge world tour in 2025 - including homecoming shows in Heaton Park. The Manchester dates announced are set to take place on July 11, 12 19 and 20 - with an additional date added for July 16.

Josh was one of many disgruntled fans who had booked a stay at the Maldron hotel shortly after the announcement of the tour dates. They were later told they were being sent cancellation requests to accept and that their bookings could not be honoured - despite the same rooms later appearing online at highly inflated prices.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the hotel said that 'due to a technical error' with the booking system on 26 and 27 August, more rooms were listed to book than were available for the nights of the Oasis concerts at Heaton Park.
