Nottingham Forest injury state of play as attention turns to Wembley final

The countdown to Wembley is on. In little more than a week's time, Nottingham Forest will be in the capital for the Championship play-offs final.

The Reds will do battle with Huddersfield Town under the arch next Sunday (May 29), with the prize on offer a place in the Premier League. It has the makings of being a great game.

Forest boss Steve Cooper will have some selection decisions to make, over his starting line-up. But he does still have a couple of players sidelined. Here's a look at the injury state of play.

Hamstring.

The striker had only recently returned from an ankle sprain when he suffered another injury blow. He was forced off barely 15 minutes after coming off the bench in the 1-0 win at Peterborough United last month. Initially, he was due to miss the games against Fulham, Swansea City and Bournemouth at least, but was then ruled out for the rest of the campaign as he faces a six to seven-week lay-off.

Prior to facing the Swans, he said: “He won’t feature again this year, in terms of games we may or may not have to play. It’s looking at about a six to seven-week injury. Obviously we’re close to being a week into that now.

“It’s unfortunate for him. It was great that he was back in the mix and was starting to up his game time, and then unfortunately he’s had another set-back. That’s unfortunate for him and us.

“His future isn’t something that anybody is focusing on at the moment. The main focus with Lewis is getting the immediate treatment that is needed with these injuries to help the longer-term rehab.

“That’s just where he is, as well as everybody else. It’s not really a talking point at the moment.”

Groin.
