Richie Laryea sends one-word message to Nottingham Forest supporters after play-off final victory v Huddersfield Town

Nottingham Forest sealed their long-awaited return to the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the Championship play-off final on Sunday.

Steve Cooper has stuck with a very reliable core of around 15 players in the final few months of the season, but the spirit of the collective was clear to see at the final whistle.

Cafu, Lewis Grabban and Gaetan Bong were all heavily involved in the celebrations, with a good chance that the trio will be leaving the club this summer.

Richie Laryea has been a fringe player in adjusting to English football after arriving from Toronto in January and his transition into the first team picture looks set to continue, even with the Premier League dream now achieved.

The 27-year-old took to Instagram to send a short and sweet message to Forest supporters after the game.

Laryea made one start and four substitute appearances at the business end of the season for the Reds, helping Cooper keep Djed Spence fresh ahead of the larger encounters.

The Canada international will be hoping for more regular involvement next term as he settles into a new style of football, and it will be interesting to see how he is managed, should Spence sign on a permanent deal this summer.

The Verdict

Even though there appears to be a desire from both parties to sign Djed Spence on a permanent basis, agents can get involved and some other clubs may be able to offer the 21-year-old a wage packet that he cannot turn down.

Laryea should see more opportunities next season, even if that only means as a first choice right back or right wing back in cup competitions.
