'They want me' - Forgotten Nottingham Forest midfielder sets out future hopes

Midfielder Braian Ojeda hopes he will get the chance to play for Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

The Paraguayan has made just three appearances for the Reds since his deadline day move last summer. Boss Steve Cooper has been keen not to rush him as he adapted to a new country and a new league, while competition for a place in the team has been fierce.

Ojeda penned a four-year contract, until 2025, when he arrived. And although Forest will look to strengthen during the transfer window, as they plan for life in the top-flight, the 21-year-old is eager for an opportunity.

Ojeda was not in the matchday squad on Sunday, when the Reds sealed their return to the top-flight with victory over Huddersfield Town at Wembley. But he joined in the post-match celebrations and was in the city’s Old Market Square for a special public event on Monday.

“Here in England it is very competitive, there is a lot of rivalry between the players. Mine was more adaptation, I think that in football I have not failed, rather it is adaptation,” he told Paraguayan website Versus, in a translated interview.

“They told me that they do not want to rush me, that they want me in the future. It is the language issue, it’s complicated to come and play now.

“Now I am much more adapted. I am used to everyday life, I am very happy here.”

“What I am going through is very emotional. Being one of the Paraguayans who will be playing in the Premier League is a pride,” he added.
