Nottingham Forest dealt blow for Manchester United clash during Newcastle win

Nottingham Forest will be without record signing Ibrahim Sangare for their clash against Manchester United.

The midfielder played 70 minutes as his side earned a shock 3-1 win over Newcastle United. Sangare stifled the Magpies’ midfield, managing to thwart Bruno Guimaraes and launch effective counter-attacks from deep.

The win was Nuno Espirito Santo’s first since replacing Steve Cooper in the hot seat a week ago. But the Portuguese manager will be without midfield enforcer Sangare when Forest welcome United to the City Ground on Saturday.

He was booked for a 26th minute foul on Alexander Isak, taking his tally to five for the season. Sangare’s caution means he will sit out while his teammates take on Erik ten Hag’s side this weekend.

Premier League bookings are reset after the 19th game, with the Newcastle win Forest’s 18th league fixture of the campaign - piling more frustration on the Reds. Sangare joined in the summer as the club’s marquee arrival having reportedly attracted interest from Liverpool.

Forest are yet to see the midfielder’s best but Nuno spoke highly of the £32million man after beating Newcastle - backing him to kick on following his recent fitness struggles. He said: "Of course, I know him and I expect him to help the team. Especially in his position, as a midfielder, he can be very, very helpful."

Elsewhere, Anthony Elanga impressed with two assists to put the Magpies to the sword. The former Man United man will take on his former club for the first time on Saturday since leaving for £15million in July.
