We 'signed' Serhou Guirassy for Manchester United in January as Rasmus Hojlund issue fixed

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, but what could happen if he actually signed for Erik ten Hag's side?

After impressing on loan at Stuttgart last season, Guirassy's move to the German side was made permanent in the summer, with reports suggesting the striker has a £16million release clause in his contract. This has put many clubs, including United, on red alert with Guiarassy having managed 19 goals in 16 games across all competitions so far this season.

Averaging a Bundesliga goal every 46 minutes - which is better than Harry Kane's 58 minutes - Guirassy could be a great budget option for United who have struggled in attack so far this season. Only two teams have scored fewer than United's 22 in the Premier League this season, with Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Anthony Martial combining for just five goals in the league.

So, if United signed Guirassy, how could he perform? We simulated the rest of the season to find out.

To set up this simulation, we used Football Manager 2024 to move Guirassy to United in the January transfer window before simulating the rest of the 2023/24 season. This is how the Guinea International performed.

Guirassy wasn't available throughout January with the striker representing Guinea at the 2023 African Cup of Nations, but when he arrived at Old Trafford, he made an instant impact as he scored on his debut. In 14 games, the 27-year-old had a respectable return of six goals, but his impact was much bigger than that.
