“Not convinced he’s got the quality” – Leicester City considering transfer swoop for Burnley player: The verdict

Leicester City are among a host of clubs monitoring Burnley’s Josh Brownhill during the current transfer window.

The Clarets have already cashed in on keeper Nick Pope and it’s thought that further departures could be on the cards, with the funds used to help Vincent Kompany with a rebuild.

And, one man who is attracting interest is Brownhill, with reports claiming the Foxes are rivalling the likes of Leeds United and Southampton for the midfielder.

But, is he good enough for Brendan Rodgers’ side? Here our writers share their thoughts…

Ben Wignall

Whilst I have no doubts that Brownhill can play regularly in the Premier League, I’m just not sure he’d get the required game-time at Leicester.

He wouldn’t exactly be a like-for-like replacement for Youri Tielemans, and then there’s Wilfried Ndidi, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, James Maddison and Boubakary Soumare to contend with as well.

Brownhill has improved year-on-year in the Premier League at the Clarets, but I’m just not convinced he’s got the quality to make an impact at the Foxes.

I could see him in a newly-promoted top flight side or at someone like Southampton, but ultimately I do not think he would be the right fit for Leicester.

With Youri Tielemans and Hamza Choudhury potentially set to leave the Foxes this summer, reinforcements in central midfield areas will be required.

Leicester’s recruitment has been amongst the best in the Premier League in recent years, and Brownhill could be a shrewd pick-up after Burnley’s relegation.
