Ayoze Perez reflects on 'tough' pre-season test with Leicester City prediction

Ayoze Perez has delivered a positive message after featuring in Leicester City's tough pre-season test against sister club OH Leuven.

The Foxes played out a 3-3 draw in Belgium on Saturday in their second pre-season friendly of the summer. Musa Al-Taamari and Nachon Nsingi put the Pro League side two goals ahead, but they were pegged back by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Patson Daka in the second half.

After 90 minutes of action, a further 30 minutes were played for both sets of players to get more minutes into the tank. Jamie Vardy's first goal of the summer made it 3-3 after Mykola Kukharevych had put Marc Brys' side ahead.

Perez was handed his first pre-season action of the summer, the 28-year-old playing an hour at the Den Dreef Stadion after joining Harvey Barnes and Daka in Brendan Rodgers' attack.

And the Spaniard is confident the squad is getting closer to full fitness. "It was quite tough," he told LCFC TV.

"For me, in my first friendly, it's good to get some minutes. They are a couple of weeks ahead of us, but it's good to get the feeling back, get some game time and we're getting ready, getting fitter for the main thing - which is Brentford."

Rodgers' side have two weeks remaining until they return to Premier League football when Thomas Frank brings his Brentford side to the King Power Stadium. City have four friendly tests remaining until then, with Spanish side Sevilla visiting LE2 following trips to Hull City, Derby County and Preston North End.

With a hectic schedule on the horizon - the Foxes have six league fixtures in the space of a month - Perez is confident friendly tests similar to Leuven will help them be ready when the real action begins. "It's part of the process, it's a way to get fitter and fitter,"
