NJPW's Kazuchika Okada makes shock AEW Dynamite debut

Last night saw a huge twist in the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship picture as ‘The Rainmaker’ Kazuchika Okada made his shock AEW debut.

For weeks Adam Cole and former AEW World Heavyweight Champion Hangman Adam Page have made their intentions clear that they want a shot to become IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.

However, for weeks their challenges have been shot down by IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White. White made it clear that he will choose his challenger with him being the catalyst of professional wrestling.

Page hoped to be facing Okada for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, but The Rainmaker would lose the belt to White at NJPW’s Dominion Pay-Per-View.

Hangman still wanted the opportunity to battle Okada at Forbidden Door, even if it wasn’t for the IWGP Championship. However, things became personal with White when he dropped Page with a Bladerunner on Dynamite last Wednesday.

He would again fall victim to a two-on-one attack from White and Cole before the infamous coin drop hit, and the crowd erupted to the shock arrival of Okada, who stormed the ring to assist Hangman.

There was a momentary staredown between Page and Okada before they continued the fight with Cole and White.

It was later confirmed that this Sunday at Forbidden Door, it will be IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White defending his title in a 4-way match against Adam Cole, Hangman Page and Okada. Okada has a shot to reclaim the IWGP Heavyweight Championship but he has to tangle with three of the best wrestlers in the world.

The AEW locker room expressed their excitement for Okada’s arrival with The Rainmaker even getting a picture with his Chaos teammates in AEW, Orange Cassidy, Kris Statlander and Roppongi Vice.
