Nice confirm stance on Jean-Clair Todibo amid Manchester United transfer links

OGC Nice would like Jean-Clair Todibo to stay but accept he could leave this summer if Manchester United make an offer.

Harry Maguire ended last season considered as Erik ten Hag's fourth-choice centre-back and the decision was made to strip him of the captaincy in pre-season, which made him consider his future away from Old Trafford.

West Ham submitted an improved offer for Maguire on Monday and United have accepted the offer in principle. The club are now looking at potential replacements, with Edmond Tapsoba admired by United and Benjamin Pavard and Todibo also linked.

Although Todibo is just 23 years old, he's established himself as one of France's finest defensive prospects and his newly appointed manager at Nice, Francesco Farioli, discussed his future at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Farioli unsurprisingly confirmed he wanted Todibo to stay, but he admitted the reality is that his future remains uncertain.

"I also have two vice-captains Khephren Thuram and Jean-Clair Todibo who are among the best players in the team," he said via France Bleu

"We would like both players to stay until the end of the season. But the reality of the transfer window escapes me. We'll see what happens. As long as they're here, I'm enjoying having them."

Farioli was joined at the press conference by his captain and veteran defender Dante who also gave his thoughts on Todibo.

He added: "Of course we would like Todibo to stay. But it can be complicated. We have to wait to see who will want to buy him and if everyone finds himself there. He is a leader, a very strong player mentally, he has improved a lot and he is ready to reach the very top level ."
