'See you soon' - Manchester United fans bombard Pavard with transfer request after Varane message

Manchester United fans have encouraged Benjamin Pavard to trade Bayern Munich for Old Trafford after he sent a message to his international teammate Raphael Varane on Monday night.

United's centre-back scored the only goal of the game against Wolves as the Reds rode their luck against Gary O'Neil's men. The 30-year-old bagged the winner 15 minutes from time when he powered home a close range header.

After the full-time whistle, Varane took to Instagram to share an image of his celebration in front of the Stretford End. Among the scores of United fans and players congratulating him on the goal was reported transfer target Pavard.

The French defender left two fire emojis in the comments which was seen by many supporters as a positive sign regarding his interest in joining the club. Reports over the past couple of weeks have linked Pavard with a move to the Theatre of Dreams.

It is understood the 27-year-old would prefer to play centre-back instead of right-back and Sky Sports Deutschland has claimed the Frenchman is disinterested with life at Bayern. Pavard is seen as a potential replacement for Harry Maguire should the former United captain join West Ham. MEN Sport understands the club has accepted a bid from the Iron for the English international.

The transfer window is in full swing and United have got their hands on three players well in advance of the September 1 deadline, with Rasmus Hojlund joining Mason Mount and Andre Onana at Old Trafford.
