Newport Road in Cardiff closed due to serious collision -latest updates
The A4161 Newport Road has been closed in both directions due to a serious road traffic collision late on Saturday night.
Police are advising that the crash occurred at the Newport Road Junction with Clifton Street towards Cardiff and traffic is queued in both directions.
Emergency services are responding to this ongoing incident and motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
South Wales Police tweeted at 10.43pm: "RTC: We are at the scene of a serious collision on Newport Road junction with Clifton Street, Cardiff. The road is currently closed and a diversion has been put in place.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible."
Traffic monitoring website Inrix is reporting that: "A4161 Newport Road in both directions blocked, queueing traffic due to accident from B4487 Four Elms Road to A469."
