M5 closed due to lorry crash and fuel spill - latest updates
The M5 has been closed north of Bristol this morning after a lorry crashed into the central reservation and spilled a large quantity of fuel across the carriageway.
Traffic heading towards South Wales, via the M4 and the Prince of Wales Bridge and the M48 and the Severn Bridge, is affected. Traffic is reported to be queueing. National Highways: South-West has advised that a closure is in place on the southbound M5 near Stroud. The stretch of road affected runs from junction 13 to junction 14.
The incident was first reported at 3:53am on Thursday (March 31). The estimated reopening time is 8:15am, according to National Highways.
Traffic information service Inrix said: "M5 Southbound closed, queueing traffic due to accident, a lorry involved and fuel spillage from J13 A419 (Stroud) to J14 B4509 (Thornbury / Falfield). The road has been closed since around 03:45 Thursday morning."
